First seen Mar 21, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested a new type of radiation therapy that adjusts the treatment plan each day based on the patient's current anatomy. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce long-term dry mouth (xerostomia) in people with head and neck cancer. Fifty adults with squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx, larynx, or hypopharynx took part. The study compared standard radiation to daily adaptive radiotherapy using the Ethos system.
