Dark chocolate may boost Baby's heart test results, study says

NCT ID NCT07418151

First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether eating a small amount of dark chocolate (30g, at least 80% cocoa) can help turn a non-reactive fetal heart rate test into a reactive one within 20 minutes. About 190 pregnant women between 36 and 41 weeks who have a non-reactive test will be randomly assigned to eat either dark chocolate or a sugar-free white chocolate placebo. The goal is to see if dark chocolate can improve test results and reduce the need for additional monitoring.
