New hope for hard-to-treat melanoma: drug combo shows promise in early trial

NCT ID NCT04971499

First seen Feb 22, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tests a combination of two drugs (dapansutrile and pembrolizumab) in people with advanced melanoma that no longer responds to standard immunotherapy. The trial has two parts: first, finding the safest dose of dapansutrile when given with pembrolizumab, and second, checking how well the combination shrinks tumors. About 26 adults with stage 3 or 4 melanoma that cannot be surgically removed are taking part.
