Diabetes drug trial aims to tame chaotic heart rhythms
NCT ID NCT05174052
Summary
This study is testing if a diabetes medication called Dapagliflozin can reduce the amount of time people with both diabetes and a type of irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) spend in that dangerous rhythm. About 28 participants will be randomly assigned to take either the drug or a placebo for 3 months while wearing a heart monitor patch. Researchers will measure the change in heart rhythm burden and quality of life to see if the drug helps control the condition.
