Heart surgery in infants: unlocking the Body's hidden immune response
NCT ID NCT04423523
First seen Jan 03, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at 88 young children (3 months or younger) who had heart surgery with a heart-lung machine. Researchers measured certain proteins in the blood that can trigger an immune response, to see if they cause a temporary weak immune system after surgery. The goal was to better understand how the body reacts to this type of surgery, not to test a new treatment.
