Blood marker may predict deadly bleeding in Life-Support patients

NCT ID NCT07039513

First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated Jun 07, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study will follow 100 intensive care patients on ECMO (a heart-lung machine) to see if changes in a blood marker called D-dimer can predict serious bleeding within 24 hours. Bleeding is a major risk for these patients, and finding a way to forecast it could help doctors act faster. The goal is to identify a clear threshold for D-dimer increase that signals danger.
