First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested a medicine called Cytotect to prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in people who had a stem cell transplant and then developed graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). CMV is a common virus that can be very dangerous for these patients. The goal was to see if Cytotect could lower the risk of CMV infection without the severe side effects of standard antiviral drugs. The study was stopped early after enrolling only 2 participants, so results are very limited.
