Could a simple ECG and ultrasound replace x-rays for central line checks?

Summary
This study looks at whether using a heart monitor (ECG) and an ultrasound at the bedside can safely confirm that a central line (a large IV in the neck) is in the right place and has not caused a lung puncture. About 75 adults in intensive care who need a central line will be randomly assigned to either standard care or the new bedside methods. The goal is to see if these techniques are practical and reliable enough to possibly replace routine chest X-rays.
