Spice of life? turmeric compound tested as emergency sepsis aid
NCT ID NCT07436130
Summary
This study is testing whether curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, can help control the dangerous immune overreaction in patients with severe sepsis. Fifty-six critically ill patients will receive either curcumin or a placebo pill in addition to all their standard hospital treatments. Researchers will measure markers of inflammation in the blood and track recovery to see if the curcumin group does better.
