Spice extract tested as potential alternative to cervical surgery

NCT ID NCT02554344

Summary

This early-stage study aimed to see if taking curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, could help treat a precancerous condition of the cervix called CIN3. The plan was for participants to take curcumin pills twice daily for 12 weeks to see if the abnormal cells would shrink or disappear, potentially avoiding a surgical procedure. The study also sought to understand how the treatment worked and its safety, but it was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
