Turmeric extract tested as potential alternative to cervical surgery

NCT ID NCT02554344

Summary

This early-stage study aimed to see if taking curcumin (the active compound in turmeric) could safely treat high-grade abnormal cervical cells (CIN3) and potentially cause them to regress. The plan was for 14 women with CIN3 to take curcumin pills twice daily for 12 weeks while doctors monitored the cells. The study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
