Cold therapy could cut opioid use after lung surgery

NCT ID NCT06861387

First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether freezing the nerves between the ribs (intercostal cryo-analgesia) can improve recovery and reduce pain after minimally invasive lung surgery. About 150 adults scheduled for lung surgery will either receive standard pain management or standard care plus this freezing technique. The goal is to see if the freezing method leads to less pain, less opioid use, and shorter hospital stays.
