Can CrossFit reboot the immune system? blood study in sedentary men
NCT ID NCT07824830
First seen Sep 17, 2026 · Last updated Sep 18, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Researchers at Inonu University are studying how an eight-week CrossFit program affects the immune systems of sedentary male university students. Thirty participants will complete one acute CrossFit session and then train three days a week for eight weeks. Blood samples collected before and after the acute session and after the full program will show whether immune cell counts change with high-intensity functional training.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- an eight-week CrossFit training program
- What this could lead to
- If the program changes immune markers, it could support exercise as a low-cost way to improve immune health in people who are sedentary.
- What could go wrong
- The study is small, with 30 participants, and only measures immune cell counts, not whether people get sick less often. Results may not apply to women, older adults, or people with different fitness levels.
