First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looks at whether giving a single, stronger dose of antifungal medicine (liposomal amphotericin) along with the standard drug (fluconazole) can prevent cryptococcal meningitis in people with HIV who test positive for the fungus but have no symptoms. About 356 adults in Uganda will take part. The goal is to see if the enhanced treatment reduces the number of people who develop meningitis over 24 weeks and improves survival.
