Breathing mask could shield hearts from radiation damage

NCT ID NCT07373782

Summary

This study is testing if using a CPAP breathing device during radiation therapy for breast cancer can lower the amount of radiation that reaches the heart and lungs. The goal is to reduce the risk of long-term heart and lung problems that can sometimes occur after treatment. About 53 female patients will have their radiation planned with and without the CPAP device to see which method gives better protection.
