Lockdowns fueled hidden syphilis surge, study finds
NCT ID NCT07150871
Summary
This study looks back at patient records to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic changed the spread of syphilis and its connection to HIV. Researchers are analyzing data from 240 patients treated at a hospital in Italy between 2017 and 2025. The goal is to see if lockdowns and reduced healthcare access led to more severe cases and changed how often syphilis and HIV occur together.
