Summary

This study follows people aged 70 and older who were hospitalized with severe COVID-19 for one year after their diagnosis. Researchers aim to describe how many survive and how well they recover, including physical and mental function. The goal is to better understand the long-term impact of severe COVID-19 in older adults.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this study could help doctors better predict recovery and plan care for older patients with severe COVID-19.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it cannot prove what helps or harms. Results may not apply to all elderly patients.
