Scientists investigate Cortisol's role in rare fat disease
NCT ID NCT04845165
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at how the body processes cortisol in 25 people with a rare genetic condition called familial partial lipodystrophy type 2 (FPL2), which causes abnormal fat distribution and severe metabolic issues. Researchers measured cortisol-related substances in urine and fat tissue to see if an enzyme called 11bHSD1 is overactive. The goal was to better understand the disease, not to test a treatment.
