Gentle tug on umbilical cord could save mothers from dangerous bleeding
NCT ID NCT01044082
Summary
This study tested whether a gentle pulling technique on the umbilical cord after birth reduces dangerous bleeding in mothers. Over 4,300 women who delivered vaginally were randomly assigned to either receive this controlled cord traction or to wait for natural signs of placental separation. The goal was to see if this simple, hands-on method could prevent postpartum hemorrhage, a leading cause of maternal death worldwide.
