First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study measured a hormone called preptin in the umbilical cord blood of 72 newborns. Researchers compared levels in babies with low or high birth weight, as well as babies of diabetic mothers, to those with normal birth weight. The goal was to see if preptin is linked to birth weight and to better understand newborn health.
