First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tests whether a supervised program with exercise sessions twice a week and monthly education on sleep, diet, and quitting smoking can help people with COPD maintain the gains from an initial 8-week pulmonary rehab. About 86 adults aged 40 to 75 with moderate to severe COPD will take part. The goal is to see if this approach improves breathing and quality of life over 12 months compared to standard care.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Interdisciplinary maintenance program (education and exercise sessions)
What this could lead to
If successful, this program could help people with COPD maintain improvements in breathing, quality of life, and reduce hospital visits after initial rehab.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 86 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program requires regular attendance, which may be challenging for some.
