Brain games reveal why epilepsy patients skip meds

NCT ID NCT02441478

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looked at why some people with frontal lobe epilepsy have trouble taking their medication as prescribed. Researchers used a classic economic game called the prisoners' dilemma to measure cooperative behavior, and compared 30 patients to healthy volunteers. They also used brain scans to see which brain areas are involved, aiming to find better ways to improve treatment adherence.
