Finger cuffs may spot dangerous blood pressure drops better than arm cuffs during surgery

NCT ID NCT07216573

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a continuous finger cuff (VitaWave) to monitor blood pressure during outpatient surgery can detect low blood pressure (hypotension) better than the standard arm cuff that measures blood pressure every few minutes. About 188 adults having elective noncardiac surgery will take part. The goal is to see if the finger cuff catches more episodes of dangerously low blood pressure lasting at least 5 minutes.
