Summary

This study tests a short, three-session online program designed to help caregivers of people with advanced prostate cancer manage their fear that the cancer will progress. The program teaches techniques like detached mindfulness to help caregivers relate to worrying thoughts in a new way. Researchers are checking whether the program is practical and acceptable to caregivers, and whether it may reduce their fear and anxiety.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Conquer Fear Carer Brief, a three-session online psychological intervention using detached mindfulness and attention training techniques
What this could lead to
If successful, this brief online program could offer a practical way to help caregivers manage the intense fear that a loved one's cancer may progress, improving their emotional well-being.
What could go wrong
This is a small feasibility study with only 14 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is brief and may not be enough for everyone, and some participants might not find it helpful or could experience temporary discomfort.
