New radiation approach may reduce side effects in breast cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT03583619

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study compared two radiation methods for people with early-stage breast cancer: a shorter, more focused radiation (accelerated partial breast irradiation) versus standard whole breast radiation. The goal was to see which causes fewer side effects like skin problems, breast swelling, or heart issues. 140 participants were followed to check side effects, cancer return, and quality of life.
