First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compared two nerve block techniques—paravertebral block and erector spinae plane (ESP) block—for controlling pain after video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). 80 adults undergoing VATS were randomly assigned to receive one of the blocks either before or after surgery. The goal was to see which method better reduces acute pain, the need for extra painkillers, and the risk of long-term pain.
