First seen Mar 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study compared three procedures for removing hard kidney stones that are not in the lower part of the kidney: flexible ureteroscopy (FURS), shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), and mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (Mini-PCNL). 300 adults with a single stone up to 2 cm were randomly assigned to one of the three groups. The main goal was to see which method left patients stone-free or with only tiny fragments (4 mm or less) after two weeks.
