New study tests safer ways to see bile ducts in tricky gallbladder surgeries
NCT ID NCT07400237
First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study compares two imaging tools—laparoscopic ultrasound and a dye called ICG—used during difficult gallbladder removal surgery. About 62 adults with conditions like acute cholecystitis or obesity will have both methods tested during their operation. The goal is to see which technique helps surgeons identify critical bile ducts more clearly, potentially reducing the risk of injury.
