New vaccine strategies could shield HIV patients from liver disease
NCT ID NCT00480792
First seen Apr 06, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested three different ways to give the hepatitis B vaccine to people with HIV. The goal was to find a method that works better than the standard shot, since HIV can weaken the immune response to vaccines. Over 400 adults with HIV and CD4 counts above 200 took part. Researchers compared the usual vaccine dose, a double dose, and a series of small skin injections to see which led to the strongest protection.
