Younger relatives may be better stem cell donors for blood cancer patients
NCT ID NCT04547049
First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at whether using stem cells from a younger, more distant relative leads to better survival than using cells from an older immediate family member for people with leukemia or myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). About 232 patients aged 13-78 who need a transplant but lack a perfect match will be randomly assigned to receive cells from either donor type. The main goal is to see which group lives longer without the cancer coming back.
