First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looked at 85 premature babies born at 24 to 29 weeks who had respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Researchers compared two types of non-invasive breathing support—nasal CPAP and nasal IPPV—to see which one works better when giving surfactant (a lung treatment). The goal was to find out which method reduces the need for a breathing tube in the first 72 hours.
