Smarter breathing machine may help sick babies avoid intubation
NCT ID NCT06053684
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study compares two types of non-invasive breathing support for infants under 2 years old with bronchiolitis in the pediatric ICU. One method uses standard settings, while the other (NAVA) adjusts to the baby's own breathing signals for better synchrony. Researchers will measure comfort, severity scores, and whether fewer babies need a breathing tube. The goal is to see if NAVA leads to better outcomes.
