Summary
This study tests two different ablation procedures for people with persistent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat). Participants are randomly assigned to either standard treatment (isolating the pulmonary veins) or standard treatment plus additional ablation of scarred areas in the heart. The goal is to see which approach better prevents abnormal heart rhythms for at least 12 months without needing medication.
