Summary

This study tested whether two programs could improve health and prevent problems in struggling neighborhoods. Researchers worked with 915 mothers and youth in specific disadvantaged areas of Birmingham, Alabama. One program offered family support and parenting skills, while the other helped residents lead projects to improve their neighborhood's shared spaces and social connections.
