New study: could continuous monitoring after surgery save lives?

NCT ID NCT07385092

First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study compares two ways of checking vital signs (like heart rate and oxygen levels) in patients recovering from non-cardiac surgery on regular hospital wards. One group gets continuous monitoring with a wearable sensor, while the other group gets routine checks by nurses every few hours. The goal is to see if continuous monitoring reduces the total time patients have abnormal vital signs during the first 48 hours after returning to the ward. About 264 adults aged 45 and older will take part.
