Zapping the brain to stop suicidal thoughts: new trial tests two methods

NCT ID NCT05377177

First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called accelerated theta burst stimulation (aTBS) to see if it can reduce suicidal thoughts in people with treatment-resistant depression. Researchers will compare two types of stimulation (bilateral vs. unilateral) in 76 adults aged 18-70. The goal is to find which approach works better and understand how the brain changes during treatment.
