New device aims to shield colon after cancer surgery

Summary

This study tests a new device called ColoSeal ICD that is placed inside the colon after surgery for rectal or rectosigmoid cancer. The device is designed to protect the surgical connection from stool for up to 21 days, helping it heal and reducing the risk of leaks. About 15 adults aged 18-70 who need this type of surgery will take part. The main goal is to see if the device is safe and works as intended.
