New device aims to shield colon after cancer surgery

Summary

This study tests a new device called ColoSeal that is placed inside the colon after surgery for rectal or rectosigmoid cancer. The device is designed to protect the surgical connection from stool for up to 21 days, which may help prevent leaks and other complications. The study will enroll 15 adults aged 18-70 who are scheduled for surgery and will check for device-related side effects and how well the device works.
