New gel aims to stop painful scarring after back surgery

NCT ID NCT07153822

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study tested a gel called Collabarrier® to see if it could prevent scar tissue from forming after back surgery for a herniated disc or spinal stenosis. A total of 69 adults having their first back surgery were given either Collabarrier® or another gel (Guardix-sol). The main goal was to compare how well each gel reduced scarring seen on MRI scans 6 weeks after surgery.
