First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether taking weekly cold water baths (18°C) for at least 12 weeks can boost brown fat activity in people with obesity. Brown fat is a type of body fat that burns energy to generate heat. Researchers will use special scans to measure blood flow and fuel use in brown fat. The goal is to understand how cold exposure might help develop new treatments for obesity.
