Chill out: cold neck trick may ease IV pain for obese patients

Summary

This study tests a simple, drug-free method to reduce pain during IV insertion in people with obesity. Researchers will apply a cold marble stone to the side of the neck for 5 seconds before the IV to stimulate the vagus nerve. 150 adults with a BMI over 30 will be randomly assigned to receive either the cold application or standard care, and their pain levels will be compared.
