First seen Apr 26, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested whether gargling with cold water can help reduce dry mouth and thirst in patients who had major abdominal surgery. 88 adults were split into two groups: one gargled cold water, the other received standard care. Researchers measured thirst, dry mouth, and satisfaction at several points after surgery. The goal was to see if this simple, low-cost method could improve patient comfort during recovery.
