Walking while thinking: new study targets early warning signs of dementia

NCT ID NCT07572968

First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how adding a mental task (like counting backwards) affects walking and balance in older adults with Motoric Cognitive Risk Syndrome (MCRS). About 35 people aged 65 and older will perform walking tests with and without a cognitive challenge. The goal is to better understand early markers of cognitive decline and fall risk, not to provide a treatment.
