New hope for Schizophrenia's toughest symptoms: talk therapy trial launches

Summary

This study tests two types of talk therapy—Cognitive Enhancement Therapy and Enriched Supportive Therapy—to see if they can reduce persistent negative symptoms in people with schizophrenia. Negative symptoms include things like lack of motivation, reduced emotional expression, and social withdrawal. The trial will enroll 90 adults with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder who have had these symptoms for at least 3 months. Participants will be assessed over time to measure changes in symptoms and daily functioning.
