First seen Nov 04, 2025 · Last updated Jun 21, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study looks at how memory and thinking problems after a stroke affect a person's ability to relearn walking. Researchers will use walking tests, brain scans, and thinking assessments in 65 older adults who had a stroke at least six months ago. The goal is to understand which learning methods work best for different people, which could lead to more personalized rehab in the future.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could point toward more personalized rehabilitation strategies for stroke survivors with cognitive challenges.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase observational study with only 65 participants, so results may not apply to all stroke survivors. It aims to understand mechanisms, not test a treatment.
