Cochlear implants help seniors hear better in noisy places

NCT ID NCT05250414

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study tested whether a cochlear implant can help adults aged 65 and older who are deaf in one ear but have normal hearing in the other. Fifteen participants received the implant, and researchers measured how well they understood speech in noisy settings over a year. The goal was to see if the implant improved their ability to hear when noise comes from the side of the good ear.
