Could a 3-Month blood thinner regimen replace lifelong pills after heart procedure?

NCT ID NCT07575867

First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at people with atrial fibrillation who get a procedure to close a part of the heart (left atrial appendage) to lower stroke risk. Instead of taking standard blood thinners for life, participants take a lower dose of apixaban for just 3 months and then stop all blood thinners. The goal is to see if this approach reduces bleeding and other complications while still preventing strokes.
