New hope for older leukemia patients: safer transplant prep may boost survival

NCT ID NCT07500753

First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests a new combination of drugs (cladribine, lisaftolax, and busulfan) given before a stem cell transplant in people aged 50 and older with relapsed or hard-to-treat acute myeloid leukemia (AML) or myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). The goal is to make the transplant safer and more effective, helping patients live longer without the cancer coming back. About 30 participants will be enrolled to see if this approach improves survival and reduces side effects compared to standard treatments.
