Blood tests could unlock secrets of rectal cancer

NCT ID NCT02874885

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at tiny pieces of cancer cells or DNA floating in the blood of people with rectal cancer. Researchers want to see if these "circulating tumor elements" can tell us how the cancer responds to standard treatment. They will also compare results from cancer patients to healthy volunteers to learn more about the disease over time.
