Can cinnamon tame kidney disease inflammation?
NCT ID NCT06286735
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether taking cinnamon supplements for three months can lower inflammation and improve gut health in people with chronic kidney disease. Thirty patients will take either cinnamon capsules or a placebo. Researchers will measure markers of inflammation and oxidative stress to see if cinnamon helps.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- cinnamon (cinnamomum) supplement
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple, natural way to reduce inflammation and improve gut health in people with chronic kidney disease.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 30 participants. The results may not apply to all kidney patients, and the supplement might not show a clear benefit.
